Considering the tragic circumstances that surrounded it, Everything Must Go is the strongest, most focused, and certainly the most optimistic album the Manics ever released. Five of the songs feature lyrics Richey left behind before his disappearance, and while offering no motivation for his actions, they do hint at the depths of his despair.

Everything Must Go" is the fourth album by Manic Street Preachers, released in 1996. It contains five songs with lyrics by Richey James Edwards, who disappeared on February 1, 1995 and is the last album to feature his contributions. The album takes its name from a play by Patrick Jones, Nicky Wire's brother. Everything Must Go" represents a change of style for the Manics

I haven't listened to any other vinyl editions, but UK original sounds - to me - rather flat and one dimensional. There is no air around the songs, no micro detail, no sense of depth to the soundstage.I've always found the CD to be rather shrill, too. Perhaps Mike Hedges just recorded it this way. I find This Is My Truth to suffer similar issues.

Luckily, my copy from juno.co.uk is all fine: sound and everything else. I listened to this album a lot on CD when it first came out, and now I'm enjoying it again on vinyl.
Vichredag
Side A on my copy sounds horrible. If anyone has a mint copy that was pressed correctly that they want to sell, please hit me up.
Hugifyn
Does anybody have a copy that sounds good? Or are all pressed as hell?
Braswyn
"Everything must go" - even off center. But that's lil bit too much. Can only listen to A Side after 6 beer. Quality control surely had the same amount.

I bought it in Spain and I had the same A-side off centered and also a click every turn. The shop replaced it and the new one is way better. The A-side is very little off centered but sounds good. I am keeping this one.
Gagas
I got a replacement copy from Amazon today. The pressing is centered this time around and sounds good. It is not the whole run that is affected.
Ubranzac
Are the vinyl pressings included in this also victims of the off-center side A's that's problematic with the non-box set versions?
Watikalate
No. It’s a different pressing. Sounds good... I’ll have another listen to make sure
Ance
I bought one that shipped from Amazon (US) and it too is has the A-side horribly off center. Sending it back, I just can't enjoy it. Is the whole run this bad? How in the world did this get past MPO quality control?!

The Manic Street Preachers from Cardiff-born consists of James Dean Bradfield (vocals/guitar), Richey James (guitar), Nicky Wire (bass) and Sean Moore (drums). The Group was the last time rather in the news by the enigmatic disappearance of guitarist Richey James, now more than a year ago. The group already has a number of successful albums to their name including Generation Terrorists (1992), Gold Against The Soul (1993) and Holy Bible (1994). Everything Must Go was without James in France. The cd still contains four compositions by his hand: Elvis Impersonator; Blackpool Pier, Kevin Carter, Small Black Flowers That Grown In The Sky and The Girl Who Wanted To Be God. Even without Richey James shows the group to deliver a balanced pop/rock album. The plate includes in addition to handsome sturdy songs like Enola/alone and Australia also understated songs as the title piece Everything Must Go and the acoustic Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky.

Yep, another bad pressing here. Side One is off centre and the sound is audibly distorted. Side Two has some surface noise but plays correctly. Very disappointed. I buy my vinyl to play and while this pressing is nice to look at, Side One just isn't playable! May have to exchange for the black or make a vase out of this one!
Acebiolane
This is the best sounding vinyl version. Ignore all that MOV audiophoolery bollocks. As always, the originals tend to sound the best. Never more so than with Manic's albums.
Impala Frozen
Another off center copy for me.I've got it from jpc.de.A side sounds really bad.
Xurad
Damn, like with most new vinyls, its not perfect. Mine's off center and No Surface All Feeling sounds hella distorted. Love the color though.
Cheber
Is this version Remastered? Or just a reissue? I thought there was an HMV exclusive and a separate remaster (single LP).
Thorgaginn
Got my copy from jpc.de, same as the HMV copy in every way. I think HMV was only the exclusive retailer in the UK. Also JPC make no mention of this being an exclusive or limited pressing in any way and still have this for sale. At 22€ (ish).
Mr_Jeйson
Bought my copy in Germany and has the same barcode..
Steamy Ibis
shade.records.uk Got my copy from jpc.de, same as the HMV copy in every way. I think HMV was only the exclusive retailer in the UK. Also JPC make no mention of this being an exclusive or limited pressing in any way and still have this for sale. At 22€ (ish). I lied, different barcode. I shall never post rashly again.

My copy came with one label badly glued to the disc so I exchanged it for a new one. The last one had the A side pressed way off center which made the record sound "wobly". Anyone had the same problem? Could it be present in all of the units from the same pressing?
fabscf
I bought two of these records one of amazon and one of eBay i also got one of here that wasn't too bad. However these pressings seem to be all dodgy copies. HMV done them as an exclusive of 2000 or 1000 made or something, i missed out unfortunatley. They were then withdrawn from shelves. Every copy i got had a limited edition sticker on it, but was way off centre and my needle was like a swing. I do not know where these came from. However can't be ltd editions if the exclusive sold out. and all of these are wonky. This isn't the only online thread about this record. I know some guys don't open them and they don't realise and sell on but i would avoid after experience unless you got a Nakamichi and don't mind. i had to file mines until i could centre it. it worked as the 180grams keeps the record put, also can use a weight as backup. Allot of hassle though. Brutal for such a classic record, and its a shame as the record looks ACE with the blue. Oh well what can ya do. There are still rakes of them selling with limited edition stickers on them on eBay, i wouldn't touch them with a barge pole lol. Better buy a black one or even the 20th anniversary boxset copy with the cd's.
Hiclerlsi
Exact same issue for me. The store replaced it and that one is the same too!
DEAD-SHOT
Same here as well. I also ordered from jpc and returned it after I noticed it was off center. The second one doesn't have the center issues, but a big bump instead. They allegedly checked the second one for damages, but if this is what they'd call 'undamaged', I begin to lose faith in my all time fav record dealer. Now I try to find the MOV one
Galanjov
Same here, needle wobbles back and forth on record, record sounds just plain false. Returning it to the store right now....
THOMAS
Yes. Id advise you to find the MOV pressing. That one's wonderful.
Perongafa
I've had the same problem. The record is off centre and I really had to press down to get it on the spindle. Wondering if it's worth exchanging it.
Andromajurus
My copy has both sides pressed way off centre, leading to audible wow on all tracks. Also, the sound quality is poor. Non-existent stereo sound stage, and horribly compressed, fatiguing sound.
Prince Persie
My uk copy seems to be exactly the same. I wonder if it is the same Europe wide as it seems to be the same as the polish version too.
