The Top is the fifth studio album by British alternative rock band the Cure, released on 30 April 1984 by record label Fiction. It entered the UK Albums Chart at N°10 on 12 May. Shortly after its release, the Cure embarked on a major UK tour culminating with a three-night residency at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.

Michael Milosh's vocals have been declared "sensual, airy, soothing, lush seascapes of erupting warmth and gentleness. It celebrated everything from his girlfriend's taste to her positive presence in his life.

The album is a collaboration between Milosh and his wife Alexa Nikolas, recording unexpected intimate moments of laughter and love together; found sounds of everything from their travels around the world together to the most private spaces in their home. Previously living in Berlin and Thailand, Jetlag chronicles the time when the couple came together and eventually settled in Los Angeles  . Got it. + add. album.

The album is based on the 1958 Parisian musical Gigi, but was also inspired by Holter's life in the city-it is set distinctly within the context of the urban pastoral, conjuring the ambient noise of a bustling metropolitan area through swarming horns, or images of patrons walking on the streets with a cool-sung cabaret piece. Anonymity made for a perfect introduction to the elegantly minimal soul confections of Rhye, the duo of singer Mike Milosh and producer Robin Hannibal. It sharpened the peculiarly acute intimacy of absence, which is the softly beating heart swaddled in the gentle instrumental folds of Rhye’s debut, Woman.

He wasn’t even allowed to work with me, Milosh says. He made a couple choices that weren’t the best for him. He suffers from what I call self-destruction. In addition to the more rhythmic vibe of Blood, there’s a richness to the music that wasn’t there before. It’s too sterile, the original record, he says. I like the live show better than the original Woman record. Watching crowds move during his performances made him pay close attention to varying his styles, which is why the groovier numbers are balanced by gentler sounds like those on the breezy, romantic Song for You, the last song Milosh made for the new album. It’s the one that made me know that I was finished the record, he says.
